Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast are the favourite destinations for a relaxing holiday on the sea where you can discover amazing corners of wondrous beauty surrounded by the unspoiled nature of the Mediterranean Sea.

THE BEACHES ALONG THE SORRENTINE PENINSULA

The beaches along the coast from Sorrento to Meta are characterised by a dark volcanic sand and high cliffs overlooking the Gulf of Naples and the Vesuvius. The Sorrento lidos , among which Puolo( which is only a short distance from the town centre), Sant’Agnello and Meta, will welcome you and allow you with their services to have a comfortable and pleasant stay at the beach. If you are travelling with your family, a lido along the coast is your best option to relax and enjoy the sea and the sun along the Peninsula.

Bagni della Regina Giovanna (Queen Joan’s Baths)
An off- the-beaten- track experience of stunning beauty , a destination you can reach only on foot from Capo di Sorrento, this is the place where Queen Joan from Naples went swimming naked. It is a natural laguna with clear shimmering water and a tiny pebbly beach which overlooks a small breach in the cliffs which leads to the open sea. It is the perfect getaway for adult travellers looking for unspoiled beaches : the stunning view, the ancient ruins, the pathway to the La Solara lido, make the place even more attractive. You can reach the beach by leaving Sorrento along via Capo in the direction of Massalubrense. Once you get to the small hamlet of Capo di Sorrento, you will see a small square where you can leave your car before going on foot. It is a 15 minute walk to the natural pool and it is not advisable for children because of its rocky nature.

Enjoy the breathtaking view
After spending a few hours at the beach, we suggest visiting the panoramic points along the road as you leave the Peninsula’s towns and villages. The very first panoramic view points is along the Strada Statale 145 . It offers a spectacular view of the entire gulf of Sorrento. Instead, if you are travelling towards Massa Lubrense, you will be able to admire the Island of Capri by having such a close-up view that you almost get the feeling of being able to touch it.

THE BEACHES IN MASSA LUBRENSE

The beaches in Massa Lubrense are among the most beautiful in the Sorrentine Coast. Though the access to the beaches is not always smooth, these beaches distinguish themselves for their extreme beauty, due to the rocky formation of the coast, and the spectacular view they offer of the Island of Capri. Mitigliano, Marciano, Baia delle Sirene(the Mermaids’ Bay), Marina della Lobra and Ieranto all overlook the Gulf of Salerno and have crystal clear waters with wonderful seabeds to discover…

NERANO-MARINA DEL CANTONE BEACHES

You will be able to spend an unforgettable day at the seaside. The seafaring village has a long pebbly beach with a good number of lidos and can be easily reached from Sorrento. In the summer, the lidos, which span over the whole coast, are rather crowded so we advise you to book, especially if you plan to go during the weekend. A fantastic alternative for visiting the coast and admire the beauty of such bays as Ieranto, or the pebbly beaches of Recommone and Crapolla, could be to hire a boat. You will certainly enjoy diving into the clear waters of the Gulf with their Blue Flags.

THE BEACHES ALONG THE AMALFI COAST

Along the Amalfi Coast you will find some of the trendiest and quietest beaches in the area from the lively Spiaggia Grande in Amalfi to the more secluded beaches of Duoglio and Castiglione, the only seashore area in Ravello. In this case too, don’t expect to lie in the sun on soft sand: along the Amalfi Coast, the so called beach is in most cases a simple patch of pebbles or a rocky platform below the rocky cliffs of the coast and to reach the beach you will need to go down impervious steps.

Your reward for such an effort will be that of finding yourself in some of the most beautiful bays in the world with warm crystalline waters. In this case too, we would suggest hiring a boat so as to be able to reach the hidden coves that would otherwise be unreachable. They are the ideal place where you can enjoy a piece of paradise for the whole day.
